Breakfast Bars

This www.nhs.uk recipe is a great way to grab breakfast on the go – without all the added sugar from a shop bought version!

Equipment

  • Wire rack

Ingredients

  • 150g jumbo oats
  • 2 medium, very ripe bananas
  • 60g melted margarine
  • 60g cherries, chopped
  • 60g cranberries, chopped
  • 40g sunflower seeds
  • 40g pumpkin seeds

Simple steps

  1. Preheat the oven to 200c (fan 180c, gas mark 6)
  2. Mix the oats, cherries, cranberries and seeds in the mixing bowl
  3. Pour in the melted butter and mix well 
  4. On the plate mash the bananas with the fork, add to the mixture and stir
  5. Spread the mixture into the baking tin and bake for around 20-25 minutes
  6. Once ready carefully transfer the bake to the wire rack for cooling and cut into 6 bars
