Outdoor Cooking Event at Root’n’Fruit

Cook and Eat Well in Stoke-on-Trent moved outdoors for a family event this May half-term thanks to the hospitality of the community allotments at Root’n’Fruit in Middleport.

On the menu was some delicious mini flatbread pizzas, cooked from scratch on an open fire, all with the help of everyone that took part. Everyone had a chance to stew up a batch of vegetarian pizza topping before families got put to work making their own healthy flatbreads to stone bake over the fire.

Great fun was had all round with activities such as planting seeds, harvesting fresh produce from the community garden and sign making to ensure we don’t mix up of runner beans with our super-hot chillies.

Come join in over the summer when we will doing it all over again, making even more great healthy food and getting stuck in harvesting our summer vegetables to cook into delicious meals over the fire.
